转角遇到爱 Corner with Love Part II

Oh my...i think i am experiencing the 转角遇到爱 character's silly behaviours. Did i watch too much drama?? No i didn't...i just watch an hour per day leh...but...i was so silly... kept wanting to piss pple off... especially him, again.

I was very happy today! Wore my best footwear, favourite yellow jacket, very comfy @ work. =) All my mind was looking forward to a good dinner after a week-long work. We went to The Soup Spoon at Raffles City.

Had good mushroom soup meal and a good chat. Tammy, as specially invited friend (she seldom hang out with us. haha~~*) and we both had mushroom soup and it made us very full. ;) Great dinner option for ladies who doesn't like high carbo meals, because they have soups like pumpkin and tomatoe as well (i'm vegetarian and proud of it =D ). Everything was good, with Tammy along =)!! However, i started to get very razor-sharp with my words, bent on bring "someone" down with my evil mouth. He was rather on the sweet talking mode with Tammy ard, which i kept shooting him down for. That's for the "respect" he gave me when I AM around.

Now i know how guys treat ladies who are too 熟 with them liao... its like a marriage going stale. Take a courtship for example. Before knowing u too well, they tend to sweet-talk, take efforts to take care of ur needs. HOWEVER, after marriage, they start to take u for granted. 太熟了! stupid reason... How does real lasting marriages work? Must find out from Nicholas chia (successful pple with over 28 yrs of marriage!)..hahahaaHA~*

Even when we went to for desert @ an Italian cafe, Menontti, behind Raffles City ( i swear by its heavenly hot chocolate!! so nice!!), things didn't work out too well. I just feel the 'Hot chocolate classic' i always loved, tasted normal this time. There's no sweetness in it. Even the 'Soriatti' and 'Chocolate mousse' desert i loved 'oh-so-dearly', looked bad. =( Deep corner of my heart, i think he feels a "teeny-weeny tiny little bit" sad that i treat him this way(dunno whether true or not, just a wild guess)... i didn't mean to... I just felt that its all my fault for making him feel bad... dunno whether he sees this..but, i dunno how to say it "i'm sorry"...

I finally understand why the couple in the drama always argue like that..I tot they were being silly, until i felt it myself. It's so uncontrollable!! I just treat pple closer to me badly.. =( Hope he is happier now.. He looks exhausted under the toll of his work, but its really nice to see him so bubbly just now. =)

*Anyway, Menontti, the Italian cafe is a great place for a weekend chillout!! Their deserts are at half price after 10pm!!! So, do drop by after dinner to chill on weekends! Awesome place for afforable good deserts. ;)

转角遇到爱 Corner with Love

My elder bro got addicted to this show and i got it transferred into my laptop. *hehe*
I wasn't very keen on the show, although pple got great ratings for it. Maybe because i didn't have time to watch it, my bro is always well-ahead of me so i missed out on alot of details.

Anyway, what i realised from the show (which kinda amuses me and pisses me off MADLY) is, that the couple, Barbie Hsu 大S and Alan Luo 羅志祥, are always arguing non-stop!! Throughout the WHOLE show!!! WHy??!! U know what? It's because of their larger thAN LIFE EGO!!!!! i've got this large ego as well....

They are obviously concerned for each other, but always ended up quarrelling over small matters, because they want to be RIGHT rather than having be LOVED. They put up a strong front, a defensive wall and refuse to acknowledge their feelings, in fear of being hurt.

I did a POV card reading and i received this...FEAR
"FEAR paralyses us and stops us from going forward. With Fear we tend to slip into a fight-or-flight mode. When Fear has occurred, we are in a place of feeling separated and we are judging and sending out attack thoughts. Eventually we perceived these energies coming back to us, threatening and scaring us."

Interpreting the Card...
"It is time to bring in the antidotes to remedy your Fear. These antidotes include love, forgiveness, willingness, courage, letting go, trust, giving and commitment. Give up your resistance and your judgement, because they only increase your Fear. Stop writing a Fear script and change it into a story of love, adventure and success."

This is actually a card for someone else, who is always..protecting his feelings, building a strong foothold so that no one can invade. EGO. a BIG one. haiz...what can i do? Write a story of love, adventure and success and use my subconscious to make it true. hahaAHA~* The last card of the reading that i got was...*secret* ;)

2nd training for 10km Standchart run 2006...

My sis went together with me for my second training for Standard chartered run and i clocked a better timing, 14mins 46sec! =) Quite satisfied for a 2nd training. Shall plan to have weekly runs, every tues evening and sunday mornings ard woodlands area. =D

This time round, the 2.4km run which i thought easy, become slightly tougher. Mentally. I realised that it was due to pressence of my sis. When i started running, i felt an unknown pressure coming inside of me. It was then, that i realised (if i am not wrong), that the sense of competition is burdening me. (My sis is 16yrs old..ahaaAHA~~* i can run faster than her! Thx to HUNZA pdts!!*)

People said i think too much at times, but..WHAT TO DO WHEN I AM RUNNING ON A BORING STADIUM TRACK?? That's when i can calm down and think about things in life. Nothing matters more than me being able to calm down and focus on what i need to do with my life.

Ah haa! I realised alot of my stress comes from surrounding competitions, that i want to be better than others, and this stress builds up to a point when i don't wanna care abt anything anymore. Constant pressure from the environment to maintain or even improve myself, till at one point in life (during JC times), i gave up on myself.

Pressure, either drives you to become a better person, or break you into a million pieces. All depends on how we wants things to be.
(Damn i really hate having pple to run alongside me..imagine i have to compete with thousands of people at the run!!! ahaAHha~~*)

If that kind of pressure is too much for me, why not opt for competing with myself? (any better suggestions?? anyone??) I felt at ease and better-focused when i'm with myself. I seek not to lead or follow others. That's me, and i am very assured of that, which brings out the best in me.
Always seek for further improvement. 1st timing: 16min 05sec. 2nd timing: 14min 46sec. 3rd timing will get better! Or clock longer mileage! =D

Seek Constant And Never-ending Improvement.

WBG is definitely leading Singapore into professionializing Network Marketing. With Mr. Nicholas Chia's vision, To become the Largest Asian MLM franchise in Asia.
He sets his vision for WBG and our GSS training academy to become what McDonalds and its HamBurger University (their worldwide management training center located in Oak Brook, Illinois) has achieved.

With Our GSS Training Academy, gaining recognition by various top professionals, such as Datuk Ikhwa, Senator of Malaysia and Mr Sanan Angubolkul of Thailand, Group President of Srithai Superware Public Company Limited (producing world class 100% melanie tableware around the World), WBG is set to become the First Class Institution towards professionalizing and cleaning up the tarnished image of MLM in Singapore!

It is another worthy evidence of Mr Nicholas Chia's competency and influence in the business world.

I am definitely praying hard for "How to become Rich without a Rich Dad III" session, so that i can invite only professionals, businessmen and those who really want to venture with Mr. Nicholas Chia into the sunrising industry of Network marketing!

Life's more than just 2.4km run...

Today i went for my first training for Dec 2 Standard Chartered Marathon run (10km-Women's). I ran a distance of 2.4km @ Woodlands stadium and...guess what??!! After my last 2.4km run (which was 5 years ago!!), i actually clocked a timing of 16min 04 sec!!!

Disappointing, yet encouraging, because i didn't suffer from pains all over my body, i didn't feel lethargic after the run (perhaps its attributed to my week-long detox juicing program!!)
My personal best was in my sec 4, where i clocked 12mins 54sec. I should have registered for 21km or 42.195km marathon...(if i am really disciplined to train for the next 3 months. hahaaAaaAA*~~**~)

Last time when i was still in JC, every PE period was dreadful when its scheduled for 2.4km runs. I hated running, but i HATE LOSING even more! So i have to force myself to out-run every girl in my class. And i did. It was just plain dreadful to want to win desperately. Just egoistic of me. haha~

However, when i started running just now @ the stadium, it feels completely an easy feat. It feels like, the World is suddenly so big. Just like a rat wheel. My "World" or "wheel" was so small during my sch days..that 2.4km and exams are the only pressure on me. Now, i'm exposed to more stuffs in life, vision and perception expands. That's why i felt that 2.4km was WAY TOO EASY to run.

Pressure during sch days => exams, 2.4km run
Pressure these days => personal results @ work and WBG, 10km run!!

How should i release some of the stress i'm feeling now?
Expand my horizon further!! Have greater mission and vision to accomplish so that i know what i'm doing now is too much an easy feat, anddddddd..............42.195km marathon next year!! ;)

To all and esp. those running for Standard Chartered Marathon run this Dec 2,
"If you want to win something, run 100 metres. If you want to experience something, run a marathon." ~ Emil Zatopek

My exit...Begin with the end in mind.

I commit myself to sponsoring 6 children for "Fund a Child" at World Vision (S), S$270 monthly by Dec 2007.

This is the initial "Exit" towards another phase of life. Using only partial of the passive monthly income from WBG, i want to do something for the society. Something that makes me feel like worth living for. Something that motivates me to strive and work hard for. This conclusion is a result of what we heard from Nicholas chia (CEO of WBG and Chairman of DSAS, ex-CEO of Bank of America!!!!), where we, the GSS team, had the privillege to visit his home. Very very nice big mansion~ :) It was through our leader, LongSheng's (project manager of a reputable Civil engineering company) help that we are able to visit Nicholas Chia. Very thankful of him as well. :)

What Nicholas chia shared throughout most of the whole 3.5 hours was, "To begin with the end in our minds" = Having a goal to achieve, achieve it (exit it), and set another goal for next stage. But we haven't even have a proper definite exit that we sincerely want to attain, how do we move towards the next?

I don't like cars, i don't like houses, i don't like money. But i like to enjoy a good meal or outing with family and being able to pay for it. I like to drive in a car, so that i can ferry my family and friends whatever they want to go. I like to live happily in a beautiful house with my family without my parents worrying to pay for bills, retirement funds. I like to travel with my close friends over the world and enjoy the beauty of nature and life. I like to have more money so that i can fulfil this tiny little mission of mine...(refer above)

It's not about the physical stuffs that money bring. It's about the intangibles we enjoy. I like to travel with friends overseas, which is why i love KL so much. hahaAHA~* Its my first ever overseas trip(i exclude Johor which i went once in sec sch with my dad, just a mere 2 hrs trip). That place, i can still remember the route from Wen Worth Hotel towards the Rapid Transit (the so called MRT), the malls that we visited, the seminars that we all went together, the discussions that we had with LongSheng and HuiMien (his wife) at the great cafe...

My wish for another trip will be one of the followings: Hong Kong, GuangZhou, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur.

Hong Kong (night view. Long Sheng wants to go there as our first destination after KL :D)

Guang Zhou (The City of Guangzhou - host city to the 2010 Asian Games. The new TV Tower will be one of the tallest buildings in the world - reaching 610m in height and is hoped will attract 10,000 visitors daily. It is set to finish late 2009, just in time for the games. I want to visit a friend there, as most likely, this will be a place i want to venture into China. ;D )

Taiwan ( Taipei 101 tower. I love the lovely fireworks thingy during the Taipei 101 countdown during the yearend celebration, which i saw it on Jet's Nokia 73. i wanna go and shop!!)

Malaysia (KL Petronas Tower. Can visit Long Sheng, Jet and Richard's newly opened Indinine cafe by WBG!~~* The next trip will be a leisure, relax trip!)

Too bad he isn't vegetarian...haha~ anyway, there's more motivation to work in Citibank le. haha~* I realised that getting to know more guys outside my social circle really works in helping me get rid of the.."thinking-of-the-same-guy" mindset.. i deserve more. I shall love myself more. haha~* :)

TEAM - Together Everyone Achieve More (Some say Miracles..)

I was talking to talking to Ming jian (away in HK now) abt team.. and as i went along, i got so into the topic that i "googled" and "wikipedied" the findings...haha like doing reseach. I love seeing patterns and complexities put into short, simple words and sentences. So when i feel too disturbed by confusing stuffs, google it!!! So here it goes...

A team comprises a a group of people or animals linked in a common purpose. Teams are especially appropriate for conducting tasks that are high in complexity and have many interdependent subtasks.

A group in itself does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximize his or her strengths and minimize his or her weaknesses.

Theorist in business in the late 20th century popularized the concept of constructing teams. Differing opinions exist on the efficacy of this new management fab. Some see "team" as a four-letter word: overused and under-useful. Others see it as a panacea that finally realizes the human relations movement's desire to integrate what that movement perceives as best for workers and as best for managers. Still others believe in the effectiveness of teams, but also see them as dangerous because of the potential for exploiting workers — in that team effectiveness can rely on peer pressure and peer surveillance.

Team size, composition, and formation

Team size and composition affect the team processes and outcomes. Teams work best if sized between 5-12 members. Less than 5 members results in decreased perspectives and diminished creativity. Membership in excess of 12 results in increased conflict and greater potential of sub-groups forming. Seven members is considered to be optimal for most teams.

Regarding composition, all teams will have an element of homogeneity and heterogeneity. The more homogeneous the group, the more cohesive it will be. The more heterogeneous the group, the greater the differences in perspective and increased potential for creativity, but also the greater potential for conflict. (TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! Absolutely!!)

Team members normally have different roles, like team leader and agents. Large teams can sub-divide into sub-teams according to need.

Many teams go through a life-cycle of stages, identified by Bruce Tuckman as: forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning.

Types of Teams

Independent and Interdependent Teams

Of particular importance is the concept of different types of teams. A bright line is usually drawn between "independent" and "interdependent" teams. To continue the sports team example, a football team is clearly an interdependent team: no significant task can be accomplished without the help of essentially all team members; team members typically specialize in different tasks (running the ball, goal kicking &scrum feeding), and the success of every individual is inextricably bound to the success of the whole team. No Rugby player, no matter how talented, has ever won a game by playing alone.
On the other hand, a tennis team is a classic example of an independent team: matches are played and won by individuals or partners, every person performs basically the same actions, and whether one player wins or loses has no direct effect on the performance of the next player. If all team members each perform the same basic tasks, such as students working problems in a math class, or outside sales employees making phone calls, then it is likely an independent team. They may be able to help each other — perhaps by offering advice or practice time, by providing moral support, or by helping in the background during a busy time — but each individual's success is primarily due to each individual's own efforts. Tennis players do not win their own matches merely because the rest of their teammates did, and math students do not pass tests merely because their neighbors know how to solve the equations.
Coaching an 'interdependent" team like a football team necessarily requires a different approach from coaching an "independent" team because the costs and benefits to individual team members — and therefore the intrinsic incentives for positive team behaviors — are very different. An interdependent team benefits from getting to know the other team members socially, from developing trust in each other, and from conquering artificial challenges (such as offered in outdoors ropes courses).
Independent teams typically view these activities as unimportant, emotion-driven time wasters. They benefit from more intellectual, job-related training. The best way to start improving the functioning of an independent team is often a single question, "What does everyone need to do a better job?"

Self-managed Teams

Normally, a manager acts as the team leader and is responsible for defining the goals, methods, and functioning of the team. However, interdependencies and conflicts between different parts of an organization may not be best addressed by hierarchical models of control.

The main idea of the self-managed team is that the leader does not operate with positional authority. In a traditional management role, the manager is responsible for providing instruction, conducting communication, developing plans, giving orders, and disciplining and rewarding employees, and making decisions by virtue of his or her position. In this organizational model, the manager delegates specific responsibility and decision-making authority to the team itself, in the hope that the group will make better decisions than any individual. Neither a manager nor the team leader make independent decisions in the delegated responsibility area.

Decisions are typically made by consensus in successful self-managed teams, by voting in very large or formal teams, and by hectoring and bullying in unsuccessful teams. The team as a whole is accountable for the outcome of its decisions and actions.

Self-managed teams operate in many organizations to manage complex projects involving research, design, process improvement, and even systemic issue resolution, particularly for cross-department projects involving people of similar seniority levels. While the internal leadership style in a self-managed team is distinct from traditional leadership and operates to neutralize the issues often associated with traditional leadership models, a self-managed team still needs support from senior management to operate well.

Self-managed teams may be interdependent or independent. Of course, merely calling a group of people a self-managed team does not make them either a team or self-managed.

As a self-managed team develops successfully, more and more areas of responsibility can be delegated, and the team members can come to rely on each other in a meaningful way.

Project Teams

A team used only for a defined period of time and for a separate, concretely definable purpose, often becomes known as a project team. Managers commonly label groups of people as a "team" based on having a common function. Members of these teams might belong to different groups, but receive assignment to activities for the same project, thereby allowing outsiders to view them as a single unit. In this way, setting up a team allegedly facilitates the creation, tracking and assignment of a group of people based on the project in hand. The use of the "team" label in this instance often has no relationship to whether the employees are working as a team.

Sports Teams

A sports team is a group of people which play a sport together. Members include all players (even those who are waiting their turn to play) as well as support members such as a team manager.

Virtual Teams

A virtual team consists of members joined together electronically, with nominal in-person contact. Virtual teaming is made possible with technology tools, especially the Internet. This allows teams to be formed of players otherwise unavailable. Research can be performed using input from the best minds around the world. Work projects can be completed by spreading the workload among long-distance players. Many businesses build their competitive edge on the capabilities and efficiencies of virtual teams.

Not All Groups are Teams

Some people also use the word "team" when they mean "employees." A "sales team" is a common example of this loose or perhaps euphemistic usage, though interdependencies exist in organisations, and a sales team can be let down by poor performance on other parts of the organisation upon which sales depend, like delivery, after-sales service, etc.. However "sales staff" is a more precise description of the typical arrangement.

7 habits of highly ineffective people

I saw this book, "7 habits of highly Ineffective people" a few days ago @ Popular and thought it was quite ...a good reminder for me. haha~*

First habit: "Be reactive. Always doubt yourself and blame others."
By being reactive you don't have to take a preventive action, entertain a forethought or plan for anything in advance. You can avoid decisions forever by continuing to doubt yourself. If you don't take a decision in the first place, how can you blame yourself. This way, you also reserve the right to blame others for the inconveniences and difficulties.

Second habit: "Work without any clear end in mind."
Then whichever way it ends, look at it philosophically, "That's the way things sometimes happen. " The fact that the outcome didn't turn out to be so great is nobody's fault and certainly not yours.

Third habit: "Do only what is urgent."
You will have the satisfaction of doing the urgent thing while avoiding crises until things catch up with you.

Fourth habit: To think in win/lose terms, that is, "I should win and they should lose."
It becomes the basic orientation to all negotiations and collaborations. Sometime, this may offer you a big ego trip and when you lose, you may even get some sympathy.

Fifth habit: "Seek first to be understood."
Don't try to understand them until they understand you and that way you can be even with them.

Sixth habit: To follow the dictum, "If you can't win, compromise."
This will help you to secretly admire yourself for being so adaptable and having "one up on them."

Seventh habit: "Fear change and put off improvement."
When you spend all your energy in maintaining the status quo, many of your coworkers will become your bosom buddies.

Foster these seven habits and you shall rank very highly among the highly ineffective people.
To understand more, go to the library and get this book. haha~*

Iridology Events!~~*

Wow.. its been so long after the events then i post up the photos (On the right column)!! haha~too slow too slow..

O'right! It was amazing experience!! Dealing with old folks, professionals asking abt "What is Iridology?" etc..

Holistic Living Fair @ Fort Canning (14-15 Apr 2007)
The crowd there were all quite concerned about holistic way of living and our booth was the most attractive and attention-grabbing! It was because, we had our TV monitor facing the crowd and everyone could see Big "Flowery" Iris patterns~ and the European's eyes were amazing... Very colurful, yet flowery.. with petal-like patterns..Not a good sign... A perfectly healthy person should have a smooth, patternless iris. There is more to it, and i can't explain all here. haha~

Iridology is relatively new in Singapore, however, in the developed nations such as US, Korea, Japan, doctors are already using it as a pre-dignostic tool for their clients. It is able to pin point more accurately the parts of body which requires attention, which doctors may not be able to tell (even if they got lots of experience). Because sick pple may have tons of symptoms at one time, and misjudgment can cause alot of time delays.

For details about Iridology, you can check out a basic informational website @ www.onemillioniris.com

Econ Medicare centre & Nursing Home @ SATA (East side) (22 Jul 2007)
ECON Medicare Centre is owned by ECON Healthcare Group, having a chain of medicare centre under its name. The CEO is the father of my fellow business partner, XinDe (Now in Australia studying). We have the priviledge to promote the awareness of Iridology @ the Open house of Econ Medicare centre and we have a much different experience..

The people who went there, of course, got to know thr the mass-mailing, callings from Econ group to inform them of the event. People who came, are more aged than i tot. Mainly born in the 30s-40s, which is ard 60-70s. Wow.. it was great experience, and again, we drew the crowd. Perhaps we were strategically positioned and of course, being professional in the why we explained "What is Iridology about" and provide them with a solution.

Events management is absolutely tiring and troublesome...we were faced with scenarios that needs hugely high AQ (Adversity Quotient) to deal with...and we managed in the end. *HAPPY* ;)

Basically It was FANTASTIC!! Iridology will be the way to go, and we will achieve great credential and credibility in years to come! *CHEERS*

(*WATCH out for more Iridology events coming up!~*)
